The best computer I've ever had March 18, 2010 Xavi Esteve (London, UK) 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
It is expensive, yep, but definitely worth it. Think about 4 Windows PCs in one (or 2 GNU/Linux that work without nights of terminal input and setup).
Hyper-fast booting, very responsive even while working with big images/videos and having tons of tabs or apps open, nice screen resolution (1920x1080), enough to work comfortably in Photoshop and other design software.
I got the 21.5 inches because the 27 was way too much for my room (it's more than 60cm wide). The wireless keyboard and magic mouse are incredibly useful and well designed. And it has 4 USB which is enough (keyboard and mouse don't use USB).
The only disadvantage I find is the weight of it, it is quite heavy and hard to carry from one place to another (shouldn't be often so that's fine).
Oh, and that the magic mouse hasn't got middle click (I've heard you can emulate it somehow). I also wonder how long will the keyboard and mouse batteries last, it's a pain to keep changing them every now and then.
I'm in love again!
My first Mac December 11, 2009 B. Adams (Surrey) 24 out of 29 found this review helpful
No more having to make a cup of tea or walk the dog while the PC boots.
No more tired old Windows' idiosyncrasies like items missing in the tray.
No more clutter on the computer table.
The iMac is a sincere pleasure to operate, fast, intuitive and beautiful to behold.
Yes, expensive.
Yes, so many of the Windows programs you have collected over the years will no longer work unless you use "Boot Camp" - which I don't want to do anyway as I want to say goodbye to Microsoft altogether.
But honestly, I can't sing this computer's or Mac OS' praises highly enough.
NB I bought the mid-2009 model direct from Amazon.
It Works March 4, 2010 G A Cook 10 out of 12 found this review helpful
Having spent years using a pc I purchased a Apple I Mac,what a difference. It works straight out of the box, wireless internet connected in seconds no drivers to download it just worked. Connect printers etc same result they work. No anti virus scanner running in the background slowing everything down. I added Apple I Works 09 and it has every office feature that I need and it works with Microsoft Office. I also added Aperture 3, if you are in to photography then I can also recommend this, works better than Lightroom and easier to use. Excellent product also saved £100 buying from Amazon.
Second Chance March 23, 2010 B. S. Page-akers (Staines,Middlesex,U.K.) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
This is a replacement for my first ever purchase of a Mac.
The 1st one lasted about 2 weeks, the fan noise became far to noisy to enjoy using it.(i have not left a review for that one)
Amazon gave me the option to replace or take a refund. After a couple of days thought I opted to give Apple another chance and ordered a replacement.Amazon duly obliged with there great service.
I am so glad I did,the replacement Mac is Great.
Having made the move from PC to Mac you can imagine how disappointed I was with the first one.
I purchased the one with the TB hard drive because I was convinced I could not live without a PC.I also bought windows 7 to install and have the choice between the the two.
As i am not a great gamer I have not missed Windows at all .
I decided not to install windows on the Mac and have now sold Windows 7.
I now have a computer that looks and performs great.
A thing of great beauty and performance November 23, 2009 Thomas A. Auld 24 out of 30 found this review helpful
I have at last moved from PC to Mac, and I am not disappointed. My 21.5" iMac has a 3.33Ghz processor, 8GB RAM, 1TB HD and the better graphics card. It is fantastic.
Apart from being utterly stunning it is an uplifting experience to use, this machine is fast and powerful. I am a casual user of IT- I dont make movies or create music. I just want a computer to work- to be reliable, fast and efficient. I use it for loads of music, photos and surfing the web. It is effortless to use and navigate, and it is more intuitive than PC. I dont like the Mac/PC fight, Windows 7 looks very good too, but for the way this thing has been performing for me over the past week- and how it looks and feels- it frankly deserves more than 5 stars. My photos look absolutely stunning on the huge bright display and the stereo speakers are pretty good too. In terms of performance it is very fast- when I first turned it on it simultaneously downloaded 665MB of updates, over 3,000 emails and I didn't even notice as I surfed the web and explored my new system.
If you are thinking of moving over from PC, just do it. You wont look back. If you are already a Mac and dont want a laptop, what are you waiting for and why are you reading my review?
